13TH CLASS - GROUP 01 - WORKPLACE SAFETY REVIEW AND HUMAN RIGHTS IN THE WORKPLACE

Today:
1) Take Our Teens To Work Day permission slips were due and collected.
2) We reviewed the 3 rights and responsibilities of workers - to know, to participate, and to refuse work. We reviewed the responsibilities of employers.
3) We discussed your Human Rights in the workplace. We started focusing on common causes where your rights are not respected: the "isms".
4) You individually completed a handout on several "isms" - racism, sexism, classism, ableism, heterosexism, and ageism - to assess your prior knowledge and experiences.
5) You shared the answers you were comfortable sharing with your partner.
6) You were also asked to write effective strategies you have used or would like to use to combat the "isms".
If you missed class: See me for the handout and to catch up.
